Shaina seldom had dreams. Even if she did, she could vaguely recall them. Lately, work had been stressing her out and she was hardly getting any sleep. She was pulling late nights for a month now and she was gonna be stuck in that boat for the next three months. She was feeling exhausted when one of her colleagues suggested power naps during the day. The office had a sick room with the shiniest glass windows with a serene view and an inviting bed- perfect for a quick afternoon siesta!
On one such day, Shaina had an hour free before her next meeting. She decided to follow her colleagues advice and went to the sick room. It was empty. She set an alarm for 25 minutes and lay on the bed. She fell asleep almost instantly.
The alarm rang and she was up. She woke up feeling fresh. She went up to the glass window. She stared down the glass window. She saw a couple walking in the garden. She turned to get herself a glass of water. While she sipped on her water, she saw another figure appear behind the couple wearing a mask with gun pointed at them. Shaina tried to open the window, but it was sealed shut so she started banging at it to warn the couple. But she was on the 15th floor and they couldn't hear her. BANG! BANG! She shut her eyes, afraid to open them. She was shaking and she slowly opened her eyes to see the couple down on the ground. The shooter had disappeared. She started screaming and panicking but no one seemed to hear her. She rushed to open the door but she was locked inside. She tried to look for her phone to call for help but she couldn't place it. THUD!
She heard a bang on the door. Before she could reach it, the door flung open and the shooter was in front of her. She was so scared she couldn't even scream. With each approaching footstep, she felt closer to her death. She shut her eyes. She couldn't see her own end.
She suddenly heard a familiar sound in the distance, a tune so entrenched in her mind which gave her strength to open her eyes and face reality. She opened her eyes. She woke up to find herself in the sickroom with no shooter and an annoying alarm. She did not miss dreaming.
